Fishin up date 08/14/17

On the Flats
Red fish were hiding from me this weekend, But on the East side against the first row of Islands Snook, Snapper and Tarpon, all were pretty easy, The tarpon wanted top water, The larger Heddon torpedo or The Skitter walk, and it was darker colors, like gold or bronze colors. The Trick to the hook up was starting and stopping the lure, short hard pull, then a complete stop for 2 seconds, and repeat. Snook seem to like the new Rapala Rip-stop, cast close up under the mangroves and 2 short twitches to the rod tip, pause and do that a couple times and it no hit reel it slow to moderate back to the boat had one hit it like that on the way in 10 feet from the boat. For the flounder a shrimp under a poppin cork, shallow water and the shrimp about 6 inches off the bottom.

Open Harbor report.
Lady fish and Jacks are swarming the Harbor, and the lure of choice is the Storm twitch, reel and pause or twitch it and they can not resist. once you catch a Lady fish, Put it under a float about 5 feet and let it swim away from the boat and Give a Hundred pound tarpon an aerobic work out, Keep a tarpon’s heart healthy.

Gulf of mexico, 45 feet of water Red Grouper are really hitting, Squid and Squirrel fish, 10 Keeper Red Grouper for 5 Poeple. up to 30 inches.
Out 45 miles the REd snapper and every other snapper are hitting and the Cobia and Black-fin Tuna are in there thick.
